Recently, while helping my parents clean out the family ranch, I came across an old Union Pacific boxcar form the 1940’s that had come to rest on the property and functioned as a wood shed. I tried to figure out how I could cut out one of the sides and preserve it as a wall in my office, but my father was having none of it, as it had already been sold with the ranch. So I busted out my camera and took as many photos of the rusty relic as I could before leaving the ranch for the final time.

Meanwhile, back at the overpriced auction…
The recent auction was a total bust, as far as bargains go, so I used my time to capture some of nature’s paintings. I love the patina and the erosion that happens over time to metal and paint. Each small scene is there, waiting to be seen. Auction attendees were looking at me like I was crazy as I snapped hundreds of close-up photos while they were examining possible purchases. I think I left the auction with the best treasures – photos!

Lost Photos
I found an old box today, and in it were some old motorcycle photos I had stashed away. Funny, who knew years later I would be restoring a Honda CB350?
Veterans Day Salute
My grandfather, Henry Ford Stiltz, lied about his age and joined the navy at the age of 16 to serve with his older brother in WWII. He was stationed on the USS Lexington when it was torpedoed in the Coral Sea by the Japanese Navy. He survived the sinking with a Medal of Commendation for saving fellow soldiers during the explosions, and went on to become both a State trooper and a Federal Game Warden. He was a proud patriot that gave me a foundation in conservative American values. He was a proud hard-working man that would help others but never ask for help in return. Thank you G-Pa for fighting for our freedom. I carry on your values so that your fight was not in vain.
Photo of the Day – Grave Robbing
Grave robber…
This vintage photo was found at a local estate sale in Oregon. It looks as though this gentleman is digging up Native American artifacts. Good thing he hid his face with the plunder…
